Burnside has been opened since 1978 and throughout this time we have created a successful and supportive school environment. Since 2008 our enrolments have grown steadily and we currently have 410 students enrolled at our school.
Our school motto is Trust, Believe, Belong which are elaborated as 'In our teachers we trust', 'In our students we believe', 'In our community we belong'.
Our parent guarantee highlights the three core areas of focus at Burnside State School—Personalised Learning, Engagement and Partnerships.
Our school focuses on student wellbeing and provides support to our students, staff and community. In 2018, Burnside State School began the journey of becoming an officially recognised as a 'Not Now, Not Ever' school based on our strong commitment to taking a stand against violence within our community.
Our children are amazing young people and as a school we have identified five core values our children need to become global citizens seeking to make a positive impact. Burnsiders use these values to support decision making to display preferred behaviour that is Thoughtful, Respectful, Accountable, Cooperative and Kind—otherwise known as 'On TRACK' behaviours.
Students are acknowledged for their positive contributions and efforts with their learning and interactions with others across the Burnside community.
