Prep at Burnside
Prep is the first year of full-time schooling for children who turn five by June 30 in the year they start school.
Prep at Burnside will build on your child's learning at home and other early learning experiences like kindergarten and child care.
Most importantly, our exciting Prep Program is designed to promote a love of learning while your child gains the vital skills they need to be prepared for Year One and beyond.
Learning at Burnside
Our Prep team are enthusiastic and caring. We are committed to engaging your child in a range of programs that are specifically planned according to their interests and capabilities. In Prep, priority is given to developing literacy and numeracy skills through experimentation, practice and play.
At Burnside your child will be part of specialised learning programs that provide early intervention for reading, writing, speaking and mathematics to ensure every child succeeds.
At Burnside, well-being is at the core of all we do.
Beginning in Prep, our students are explicitly taught our school values of kindness, gratitude, resilience, patience, self-control and respect.
Burnside State School was recognised as 2020 winners at the Regional Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools where our submission 'Keepers of the Lighthouse: shine the light on every child' outlining the implementation of our well-being program was celebrated.
